Are you a
Montgomery College Biotech program alum? We'd love to hear how you are
doing! Please drop us a line at lloomis-price@nhmccd.edu. We plan to have
two events involving alumni per year. The Fall event this year is described
below. In the Spring term we are going to sponsor a panel discussion for
alumni to tell current students about life in the working world. If you
are interested in being on the panel, please let us know!
If
you already have your AAS in Biotech from MC, then you should know about
the new degree programs offered by the University of Houston - Downtown.
UH-D is now offering all classes towards Bachelor degrees in Biotechnology
and Biological & Physical Sciences at The University Center. These
classes are held at night for those of you working full-time. Your AAS
degree guarantees your admission to UH-D at the Junior level, with at
least 66 units towards your degree. For more information, contact us or
go to the UH-D website http://www.uhd.edu/admissions/jointadmission.htm.
The following newsletter
information involves a recent alumni "Mad Scientist Revels:"
event. Don't miss future events!
On
November 20’th, MCBI hosted a party for science students and alumni,
dubbed the “Mad Scientist Revels.”
The reveling began at a meeting room in the new library building, moved
the party to higher ground (the rooftop terrace), and ended on the “front
porch” of the building. Alums enjoyed sharing personal and professional
experiences with each other, current students, and faculty. In fact, discussion
ran long past the time intended.
Continuing
contact with alums provides not only a social benefit to those involved,
but is necessary for asuccessful program. Besides providing networking
opportunities and mentoring to students, alums are extremely valuable
in program and curriculum assessments.
Alums – become involved! MCBI will be hosting another get-together
during the spring term. Contact us to receive information about future
meetings and opportunities to assist with educational offerings and program
assessments.
